The Arena

AstraZeneca is currently making large investments to increase our research capability in Inhaled Pharmaceuticals, in Mölndal, Sweden. We are investing in new equipment, new technologies and more people. We now aim to increase the number of people working with Product Development for Inhalation by 50%. We therefore seek people with knowledge in various skills relevant for inhaled drug delivery, such as formulation science, analytical chemistry, solid state properties, device development and biopharmaceutical sciences.

AstraZeneca Mölndal is one of AstraZeneca's three core sites for drug research, with about 2.500 employees at site. At Product Development, Sweden, a sub-division of Pharmaceutical Development, we focus on the fields of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and on Respiratory, Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases. Within Product Development Inhalation we have an exciting pipeline, consisting of both new molecules and new devices. The unit currently comprises 80 people, dedicated to research and development for new inhaled drug products and we want you to be a part of growing our expertise in this area.

The Role

As a Device designer you will focus on turning good ideas into innovative and effective devices that make a real difference for the end user, often the patient. Act as a device designer within one or more device projects with respect to design optimization to performance, timing, quality and cost. Work closely with internal and external experts to make sure the design of the devices fulfills the requirements.

Examples include:
Provide technical direction, solve issues and challenge technical solutions in device projects.
Play an active part in design outsourcing, manufacturing work and quality assurance by setting agreements, specifications, verifying deliverables and plans
Define and perform design changes, drawings, calculations and tests
Assessing risks on the design
Verify and validate the design to ensure that every demand is met and that each risk is mitigated.
Make sure that the development follows regulations and international standards
Experience in injection molding, including tools.
