Driving Dynamics Center (91630) is a section within the Department Driving Dynamics & Noice and Vibrations Center (91600), employing approximately 150 persons including technical consultants.

Driving Dynamics Center is one of the attribute centres within Vehicle Engineering, and is responsible for developing a world class driving experience in all Volvo Car Group products, with primary focus on Vehicle Dynamics, Driving Assistance and Brake Performance. Vehicle Dynamics Centre also consists of Brake Performance.

At Vehicle Dynamics we are responsible for developing the attributes Ride, Handling, Steering and Driver Assistance. We are more than twenty highly motivated individuals who develop the desired attribute levels in all projects. The tools and methods used are developed constantly by the team and include for instance a new driving simulator. The attribute levels are set together with product planning for each product and signed off with key stakeholders in each project. To keep abreast of technology developments, participating in research projects together with academia and governmental institutes, quality assurance, benchmarking competitors and market intelligence are all part of the teams responsibilities. We also act as spokespersons for Vehicle Dynamics within and outside of Volvo Car Group.

What you'll do:

We are now searching for a new Development Engineer Vehicle Dynamics. You will be part of a small passionate team that strives to deliver a world class driving experience in our future products.

A large part of the development work has historically been performed in a prototype vehicle on various test tracks and surfaces, but the challenge today is to shorten development time and decrease the dependency of these prototypes. This requires a skillset that emphasises an analytical approach and a strong openness to change. Among the tools available is a world class driving simulator which is a cornerstone in development and an enabler to reach our customers high expectations.

Your main tasks will be to plan and perform verification work, including the test and verification with CAE and testing in virtual and physical environments. You will participate in developing tests methods, both, virtual and physical. Moreover, you will take part in and perform integration tests. You will be responsible for the analysis of attribute requirements as well as tuning of vehicle dynamics attributes. In your daily work you will furthermore be in contact with internal and external suppliers.

Within Vehicle Dynamics we offer several different development opportunities where you can enhance your skills. Vehicle Dynamics is an area where you can build a network for long term development!
* Technical expert, critical areas where extra detailed knowledge is necessary.
* Team leading positions where leadership competence is a vital part of everyday work.
* Attribute Leaders for specific Projects

To verify consistent behaviour on all surfaces and in all conditions, some of our proving facilities are placed at key areas all over the world, so a willingness to travel is necessary for the position.

Do you fit the profile?

We believe that you have a Master of Science in mechatronics, automation or equivalent and good English skills, spoken and in writing. Moreover, you have a valid driver's license B. Having a PhD within a relevant area and product development experience are an advantage. Also experience from vehicle testing and tuning or development of verification methods and tools are beneficial. Furthermore, knowledge or experience from virtual verification CAE/Simulations are meritorious.

Who are you?

As a person, you are curious, communicative and have good analytical skills. You are a true team-player and like to take initiatives. Moreover, you are positive, enganged and eager to learn. We believe that you furthermore have a feeling for our customers' values.
