Volvo Powertrain is the Strategic Centre for powertrain issues in the Volvo Group. The scope covers complete powertrain systems, components such as engines, transmissions and driven axles, including development, manufacturing, sourcing, partnership, installation service and support in close co-operation with the customers. Volvo Powertrain has operations in Sweden, France and North- and South America and Japan.
Within Volvo Powertrain site Malmö, Sweden, we are looking for a Development engineer – Engine performance.
The Volvo Powertrain team in Malmö supports the Volvo Group with engineering resources especially in the engine development domain with focus on engine performance and on turbosystem issues.
The Engine Performance and Analyses team gather many highly qualified engineers from different disciplines such as engine simulation, rotordynamics, aerodynamics and CFD, stress analyses, combustion and control engineering. Together with our parallel groups, design and testing, we manage assignments varying in size from a few hours to full product development including all phases from pre-studies to product validation.
Job Description:
You will be part of a group of experienced engineers in engine performance analyses and your tasks will include development of new simulation models, calibration against test data and then use of the model for advanced concept simulation with focus on robustness, optimization of fuel consumption, transients etc.
Part of the job will be related to engine experiments
Our assignments are often related to early development phases and serve as bases for selection of optimal engine concepts to comply with future emission legislation while improving overall fuel economy, i.e. you will work within the front of technical evolution.
Occasional travel
Preferred qualifications:
Minimum Master Degree in Engineering (M,Pi or F) or equivalent education
Experience from engine engineering or thesis related to combustion engines
Experience in numerical modelling and programming
Knowledge in computer programs (Matlab, Ms-Excel etc)
Our contact interfaces are international, why it is important that you are fluent in spoken and written English
