Development Engineer

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER for Diagnostic Kernel and External Communications you will work for all engine- and transmission control systems. The main task for the Diagnostic Kernel is to manage the results of all diagnoses so that root cause of a fault can be identified. The main task for the External Communication is to deliver accurate error information from the car to the tool man when visiting workshops. We design, optimise and validate diagnostic functions and external communication for all PT units to fulfil OBD and workshop requirements world wide. We ensure that the customer/driver gets correct and only necessary PT diagnostic information.

Job profile:

• Handling diagnostic functions
• Requirement setting and follow up against suppliers
• Analysis and development of requirements for diagnostic monitoring software
• Evaluation and problem analysis
• Liaison with internal and external suppliers
• Plan and participate in expeditions
• Handling diagnostic functions

Your profile:
• M.Sc. within Automotive, Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics or equivalent
• Knowledge and interest of data structure and systems engineering
• Experience of distributed, embedded control and monitoring systems
• Well developed knowledge of software algorithms and specifications
• Good communication skills
• Have the ability to work proactively and to independently set and achieve goals
• Excellent in English and Swedish, spoken and written
