unit for Corporate Research within the ABB Group. Here you can find
competence and long term R&D in those business areas where Swedish ABB is
particularly strong, for example automation, industrial IT and robots, high
voltage technology, power generation and material engineering. The research
centres of the ABB Group are also located in Switzerland, Germany, Finland,
Norway, Poland, Bangalore, and the USA. In Västerås, we are 220 employees,
the majority with high competence and education Technology Support at ABB
AB, Corporate Research offers expertise and experimental resources to ABB
globally. 30 persons work as internal consultants, offering advanced problem
solving and supporting development projects in the fields of materials,
chemistry and mechanics. We mostly work directly in contact with the
technical departments within the ABB divisions, but we also support research
and development projects at Corporate Research. We offer a stimulating work
environment with challenging technical issues, a cross-disciplinary approach
to problem solving, a large network of technical partners and many customer
contacts. Job description We are now looking for a development engineer
in materials science. An important part of the job is to independently
perform failure analyses and other investigations related to materials
technology on a consulting basis, which means that you will be responsible
for customer contacts, time planning, experimental work, reporting, and cost
control. Practical experience of microscopy, metallography, and/or
mechanical testing is required. Profile You hold a MSc and at least five
years of relevant working experience or PhD in materials science. You are
analytical, innovative and action oriented. We believe you have a genuine
interest in solving technical problems, good communication skills, enjoy
experimental work and are customer oriented. Excellent skills in reporting
in Swedish and English, both orally and written, are required.
