Role Description
Developer Team Leads are members of the developer or software architecture teams who also take responsibility for leadership, coaching, growth, productivity and the general well-being of the developer team. They foster a culture of high productivity and quality in the development team.
In addition to their usual responsibilities as developers, project technical leads or software architects, Developer Leads assist the Head of Software Development in the following key areas:
• Productivity and quality.
• Staff engagement and well-being.
• Process and efficiency.
It is expected that Developer Team Leads will usually spend no more than 20% of their time on these duties and 80% on their regular duties as developers, architects or project technical leads.
Specific Role Responsibilities
This role adds additional functions to the existing developer/architect/technical lead role. These functions are:

• Direct developer line management responsibilities.
• Regular (weekly or fortnightly) catch-ups with direct reports to discuss career progression, deal with any issues and track employee performance.
• Look after direct reports and support them throughout the new joiner process
• Manage and track developer attendance and leave (and obtain Delivery Manager's approval for it)
• Do regular performance reviews with the help of Delivery Managers
• Identify talented and high performing individuals and plan for career progression.
• Identify and manage developers who have challenges with meeting productivity benchmarks.
• Drive and implement training in the region both internally and externally.
• Identify opportunities and execute plans to improve process in the development pipeline and the wider software development lifecycle.
