At Scania R&D, within the Connected System unit, we work with the future's sustainable transport system and the connected vehicle. Our responsibility is to ensure that data from the connected products can be used to generate as much value as possible. We innovate and deliver data insights to empower product-, service- and business developers to take the right, data-based decisions.

Within the Component Modeling Team, we take responsibility to develop and maintain component models and the related backlog together with partners within R&D. The aim of our model development effort is to help our customers (the owner of the vehicle) avoid breakdowns as well as unnecessary maintenance. We do that by creating models that predict the health state of the different components in the truck. The work has a direct impact on our customers who get peace of mind from knowing that their vehicles have the best uptime in the industry.

We build an environment where we can implement and operate component models. The environment fetches vehicle data from our different vehicle data sources, executes the models, stores the results, and provides it through different interfaces. The model's result is then used by different teams within Scania that needs that information. Our environment is built in Scania AWS cloud environment.

We provide an environment where we in the team are responsible for the process from requirement handling, development, and quality assurance to production and maintenance.

Your work assignment

We are now looking for an experienced software developer / DevOps to strengthen a team within the Connected Systems unit, responsible for a component modeling platform. You will be working as part of an agile process to enable various units within SCANIA in creating component models, with the team being responsible for the complete process from requirement handling to production and maintenance.

You are a part of a team that is responsible for the backend development of a reusable platform that is built according to patterns that support the definition of component models based on available data and information. The models are defined by the team together with component experts as well as field quality experts.

You will develop the platform further by adding support for new types of models and new types of data. For examples high-frequency data and machine learning models.

Our development environments are mainly Snowflake and AWS, choosing program languages most suitable to get the task done (e.g. SQL, Python, Java, Scala, C#).

Your Profile

As a person, you are analytical, with a genuine technical interest. You enjoy collaboration with different competencies to find the best solution to a problem. You have a well-developed logical mindset that will enable you to understand how to turn requirements into code. You understand that our customer's need for a quality experience requires us to build systems with high quality and an understanding of that what we build is what we will run in production.

As an experienced Software Developer / DevOps you have worked with data processing back-end applications previously and are experienced in backend development and cloud infrastructure. Having been engaged in component modeling, embedded development and machine learning is merit.

You have an academic education at the university level in engineering physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent work experience. You communicate fluently in English, in both speech and writing.
