The Design department is responsible to develop the design for all future models of the Volvo line-up. We are on a journey to take the Volvo brand to a new level in terms of Design and premium perception. The Exterior Lighting Design team consists of two lighting specialist designers that work with approx. 5 CAD specialists who together are developing all the lighting components (front- and rear lamps) for the future Volvo line-up.
Volvo Car Group is looking for a Design Manager to be the Head of the Exterior Lighting Design Team, a highly specialised automotive Lighting Designer with minimum 5 years' experience. Your role will be to manage the Lighting Design Team and their dedicated CAD specialists, monitor and review their progress, lead meetings with suppliers while still actively designing head- or rear lamps yourself.
Main responsibilities
• Manage the lighting Design team in their daily work
• Participate in and lead meetings with suppliers
• Be apart of the designing of the head and rear lamps
Required qualifications
• Bachelor degree or equivalent from Design University
• Several years' experience with for area required IT tools/applications such as Alias, ICEM, Catia, Excel and Powerpoint
• Several years' experience of working as an automotive lighting designer
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Personal qualities
• Car passion with focus on design
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Capable to understand and implement product development process
• Ability to create internal and external network
• Confident and self-aware
