The group Rotating Parts and Housings is a part of the Driveline section. It is a diverse group that consists of 16 engineers with different roles, such as system engineers, component engineers, design engineers etc.
The main responsibility area of the group is the in-house designed parts of the Volvo transmissions, e.g. transmission housings, gears, shafts and oil system.
Position description
You will be a part of a small team with responsibility for the oil systems in our transmissions, both conventional as well as the ones used in electromobility powertrains. In order to reach the required durability of the transmission the oil system has an essential function, both in regards of lubrication and cooling of the transmission.
The oil itself has a central role in the topics handled by the team. However, the oil system consists of several different components, purchased as well as in-house designed and produced. Hence, you will have frequent contacts with both our own factories and our suppliers.
It grasps a broad technical area as you will deal with parts made out of e.g. high pressure aluminum, steel plates and plastics.
Main tasks and responsibilities
• Be part of the cross functional team work with suppliers, machining and assembly plants, purchasing, quality assurance, aftermarket & service organization
• 3D modeling and drawing preparation for the components
• Ensuring the design by general quality tools (e.g. FMEA, tolerance stack-up,...)
• Create, follow up and participate in the design and verification plan for our components

Qualifications
• You have a M.Sc. degree or equivalent experience
• Preferably you have knowledge in powertrain engineering
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
