Position description
Join our team at Driveline & Hybrids to develop transmission and hybrid system solutions for future heavy-duty commercial vehicles within the Volvo Group. Together with other engineers in Gothenburg and around the world, you and your colleagues will create innovative driveline systems that improve both the driving experience and productivity for our customers.
The group BF68310 Mechanical Components is responsible for the internally designed parts to all our in-house transmissions, including both manual and automated gearboxes. The parts concerned are e.g. gears, shafts, synchronizers, bearings and housings. Our diverse group consists of 27 engineers with different roles, such as system engineers, component engineers, simulation engineers and CAD engineers.

Task and responsibilities
You will be a part of our housing team dealing with mainly large high pressure die casted components. You will carry out design and development work in new transmission projects as well as updates of our current housings in production. They weigh about 15 to 40kg and have a quite complex shape and function.
Therefore you will take on design challenges in regards of advanced 3D CAD modeling, manufacturability, function and strength.
This includes:
• Lead the cross functional team work with suppliers, machining and assembly plants, purchasing, quality assurance, aftermarket & service organization.
• 3D modeling and drawing preparation for the components.
• Create, follow up and participate in the design and verification plan in the projects.
• Contribute in refinement of our CAD methodology and documentation of the methods.

Qualifications
• M.Sc. degree or equivalent together with experience in the automotive industry.
• Knowledge from 3D modeling and drawing preparation, preferably in ProEngineer/CREO of complex die casted components.
• Interest in technology as well as manufacturing processes.
• Good understanding of simulation and CAE results.
• Good communication skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Driven, structured and target oriented.
• You are a team player that also manages to perform on your own.
• Preferably you have knowledge in powertrain engineering.

At Powertrain Engineering we are actively working to establish teams that will take maximum advantage of the strength inherent differences in knowledge, experience, age, gender and nationality.
We welcome female applicants for all positions.
