Together with skilled people throughout the organization our team improves the quality of robot systems and finds solutions to customer requests, supplier issues, and manufacturing improvements.
At ABB Robotics R&D in Västerås we operate in a creative and collaborative working environment. As our new colleague, you will identify, analyze, and execute improvements needed on the controller unit incl. encapsulation and cable harness. Doing this we expect a holistic view and a constant focus on sustainable, quality-assured solutions made in time and with the right cost-aspect in mind. As Design Engineer you will work closely with colleagues from all areas within ABB Robotics as well as with suppliers, you will use SolidWorks CAD system and document your work in our PLM system.
You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, e.g. electrical or electromechanical. In your current position we assume that you work with design in an industrial company, preferably with experience within encapsulation and cabling. Naturally you are a skilled user of SolidWorks CAD system, additional tools (e.g. Eplan) is considered an advantage.
As an individual, you are a fast learner with a positive attitude. You have a structured way of working and a genuine interest in technology. This position also requires an instinctive willingness and ability to co-operate with others in order to reach common goals.
Since we work with other sites worldwide, fluency in both English and Swedish is a requirement, whereas additional languages are an advantage.
ABB Robotics develops, manufactures and markets robots and associated control systems, software, arc welding products, tracks and motor packages. We have bases in Västerås, Jönköping and the Gothenburg area in Sweden. Over 90% of our production goes to export and our customers include all major auto manufacturers. The auto industry and its sub suppliers and to an increasing extent general industry, such as the food industry, are automating their production with robots. Welding, machine tending, materials management, grinding, packaging and assembly are the most common applications. Our robots and robotics are sold via local ABB companies and via independent systems integrators and OEM companies - companies we call our Partners.
