Minesto was founded in 2007 as a spin-off from aircraft manufacturer Saab. Today, listed on the Nasdaq First North stock exchange with more than 50 employees and operations in Sweden, Wales, Northern Ireland and Taiwan, Minesto is a driving force in the creation of an emerging renewable energy industry.

Minesto's award winning and patented product, Deep Green, is the only verified marine power plant that operates cost efficiently in areas with low-flow tidal streams and ocean currents.

As Minesto is executing several projects simultaneously, they are looking for an experienced Design Engineer who is driven by the desire to minimise the global carbon footprint and inspired by the challenges involved with moving technology frontiers forward.

The role

As Design Engineer - Tether at Minesto, you will be part of an international development team working together towards the commercialisation of a ground-breaking renewable energy technology with global expansion potential.

You will be responsible for managing development and delivery of the Tethers for Minesto kites, covering all phases from conceptual development through delivery of complete systems.

The Tether can in short terms be described as a cable connecting the kite to the bottom joint. The tether transfers produced electricity and communication to/from the kite and is subject to significant hydrodynamic and tensional forces.

The role will include a lot of contact and communication with the supply chain as well as be a key function in the Minesto development organization, including but not limited to producing and following up on specifications, design, manufacturing, testing, certification and offshore commissioning and operation.

You will be reporting to the Design Manager in Minesto, but be working closely with all the technical group and project managers as well as test/operating sites throughout all phases of all projects.

You will be based in Gothenburg but expect frequent travelling to Minesto's suppliers as well as to operational sites.

Your profile

The Minesto Tether system is a unique application and is not an off-the-shelf component. Minesto sources the Tether system from suppliers, and the final product is a combination of Minesto and supplier design activities, based on a set of Minesto specifications. You will be expected and mandated to drive this Tether system delivery process in our ongoing projects including supplier management.

The position involves concept development, assessing technical details and issues, and making technical decisions, which means that an engineering background is required.

The Tether System includes aspects from mechanical engineering, material technology, electrical design, and hydrodynamic properties - which means that the successful candidate must have experience from at least one but preferably several of these areas.

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum MSc Engineering degree
• Around 7-10 years of relevant working experience post graduation

Merit Qualifications:

• Documented experience from managing suppliers
• Catia V5/V6
• Experience from commercialization phases of product development
• Minesto is an international company and it is important that you have a confident level of English. This position is based in Gothenburg and solid skills in Swedish is therefore beneficial.
