One of the major energy challenges to further invest in renewable energy sources is effective energy storage. Alfa Laval have just partnered with Malta Inc, with an innovative process for storing energy in molten salt. We will develop new, highly efficient heat exchangers for this process. We're looking for a skilled design engineer to join our project team!

About the jobYou will be part of a small and dynamic team that drive an exciting and innovative project. Your mission will be to ensure the best possible design, weighing together various factors such as thermal, mechanical and cost optimization.
Key tasks will include to:
Develop and iterate design and manufacturing drawings based on concept (incl. heat exchanger casings/headers and manifolds)
Create bill of material for 3 heat exchanger positions
Establish final materials grades list
Support Operations Development, bringing product knowledge during process definition
Define instrumentation needs for pilot plan and later product. Participate in defining specification for insulation / heat tracing
Establish design validation test protocols and define acceptance criteria for prototypes, pilot and product. Participate in developing test rigs
Secure IP
What you knowYou are a mechanical engineer by training, or similar work experience, with mechanical design experience. You have spent time as a design engineer in projects requiring an iterative design approach and prototype testing (eg R&D), where you have also been part of defining test needs and of manufacturing discussions. You are used to being part of a project team and consider multiple perspectives and design factors.
The role will include 20-25 days of travelling.
