hela Sverige As a Design Engineer Customer Adaptation within the Transport and Customer Adaptation team, you will belong to the Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics Engineering department within Vehicle Engineering in Volvo Group Trucks Technology.
The Transport and Customer Adaption team is an application center, which means that we are responsible for developing and installing technology into trucks, but in our area we are also partly responsible for the technology development and strategic direction since no corresponding development center exists.
This means that the responsibility extends all the way from early technology development to implementation projects and maintenance of parts and systems introduced on HD Volvo Group trucks around the world.
The team incorporates a Customer Adaptation team, dedicated towards Volvo trucks, who develops and implements customer specific solutions not available in the standard offering. The team has the responsibility to develop solutions needed for all chassis parts, with high customer focus and extremely short time-to-market, which requires an agile work setup and broad truck knowledge.
Job Summary
As a Design Engineer in the Transport and Customer Adaptation team you will be a member of a highly qualified team who are the technical experts in the Transport and Customer adaptation area. The field of work is very wide and spans over all truck applications, and will quickly generate substantial overall truck knowledge. Our mission is to deliver excellent technical solutions generating trucks with enhanced suitability for bodywork and customized equipment creating vehicles designed for diverse transport perations and legal frameworks.
As a design engineer you will be working in an international environment in cross functional teams with both colleagues and suppliers worldwide. The development is done with a mix of supplier designed components and own designs, and in your role it is included to both work together with the suppliers to find the best solutions, or develop solutions on your own, depending on the component.
Some components are certified following legal regulations, while other components mainly depend on features, weight, cost etc.
Main Responsibilities
• Develop solutions needed for all chassis parts, with high customer focus and extremely short time-to-market, which requires an agile work setup and broad truck knowledge
• Daily contacts with Global Truck Operation in Tuve and Ghent as the CA (Customer adaptation) orders are coming from the factories
• Keep updated on market trends, legal demands and supplier development within Chassis and Vehicle dynamics area

Main Responsibilities
Qualifications
• MSc in mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering field or BSc with relevant professional experience
• Minimum three years engineering experience from product development, preferably within Customer adaptation and automotive industry
• Proficient in 3D-modelling and PDM-systems, preferably PTC Creo and PDMLink
• Structured way of working and ability to plan complex tasks
• Self-driven with positive, global and problem solving mind-set
• Good communication skills
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
