Let's create the future together.

At Volvo Cars, we believe that being curious and truly committed to understanding people is the key to future success. We are people who care about other people, working together to create new technologies and innovations for safe, sustainable and convenient mobility. Want to join us?

What's in it for you?

The Fuel Section 97420 is one of the development departments within propulsion energy systems (PES) and is responsible for the development of complete systems for Fuel and Adblue, Distribution and Evaporative Emissions (EVAP). The development is very much integrated with the complete Propulsive Vehicle systems and in close co-operation with the rest of Product & Quality, Manufacturing Engineering as well as suppliers and other cross-functional areas. Most of the work takes place in Gothenburg, but also with international contacts, including our China office. The number of employees in the section is approximately 60.

The group Fuel Storage System has the main purpose to store and fill the car with fuel and Adblue. For all fuel systems there are severe and challenging legal requirements when it comes to safety and emissions. We are responsible for the components tank (including valves and tank straps), filler pipe, capless and brackets, both for petrol and diesel systems but also for Adblue systems.

What you'll do

We search for a Design Engineer that also will be the Component Responsible for all brackets within fuel system. As a design engineer, you will work with packaging, installation and design of the components within Fuel System and create 2D and 3D models. All development work is performed in Catia V5 and Team Center Engineering.

Since you will work as a Component Responsible as well, you will also develop all brackets for the fuel system together with our different suppliers. You will work and have responsibility for the components over time. You will work with issues related to today's production, projects and the future strategy of components covering quality, cost and technology. You will be responsible for developing new requirements, perform benchmark, supplier base, and developing new products. You will be part of a technical network with several other roles such as system responsible, function owners, test engineers and group design leaders.

On a daily basis, you will:
* Develop, update and release technical documents such as drawings, 3D models and technical regulations in Catia and Team Center Engineering.
* Work with the strategic development of the component; quality, cost and technology
* Handle program deviations or quality issues
* Be involved in sourcing and market-test
* Initiate new requests to suppliers, Engineering Statement of Work and Product Change Request
* Give recommendation to Supplier Request for Engineering Approval/Supplier Request for Industrial Change Approval from supplier

Do you fit the profile?

In order to succeed in this role, we believe you have at least a B.Sc in mechanical engineering or equivalent. You also have at least 2 years of experience within product development and are experienced in working with Catia V5, 3D/2D. You have a strong technical competence with the ability to understand our components and systems. You are fluent in English, both verbally and written and have a driver's licence B. It is meritorious if you have experience from Design For Six Sigma.

On a personal level

We are looking for you that are methodical, well organized and structured as well as communicative and likes to network. We want you to be curious, driven and have the ability to work independently but also enjoy being a part of a development team. You have an innovative and creative approach towards reaching targets and objectives, and a customer focus with the ability to understand the big picture.
