hela Sverige To initiate technical design concepts and integrated systems to international standards for global manufacture and to provide experienced leadership for mentoring junior engineers and product designers across all responsible product lines.
Main task:
A designer?s main working task is to create and deliver correctly, completely and unambiguously documented design solutions. The aim is to produce design solutions that balance technical performance, manufacturability and material cost so that the product will be profitable for Volvo CE.
Responsibilities:
Prepare basis for quotation
Develop concepts for new product or system
Produce design solutions that meets a given requirements specification, e.g. technical performance, manufacturability, standardization, part number reduction, environmental affect, cost reduction, service- and maintainability.
Establish design specifications
Demonstrate technical, written, and verbal skills by generating design reports when necessary
Recommend testing requirements when appropriate
Verify design/product
Investigate design proposal/engineering change request
Analyze products to find rationalizations in manufacturing
Propose cost reducing design changes
Follow the evolution of technologies and if possible apply it on products
Propose areas for advanced engineering
Participate in or lead a project or sub-project.
Support project deliverables
Perform engineering calculations
Provide point of technical interface for vendors/suppliers on relevant designs
Understand engineering impact on the business
Provide support to other team members
To contribute within local CnOE department
Authorities:
Approve or reject design solutions according to routine
Approve or reject deviation report according to routine
Propose changes on a product that reduce cost
Estimate time and cost of a design task (Cabs internal information)
Buy material for testing purposes within limits given in project plan (personal delegation)
Required knowledge & experience:
Degree level qualification in engineering
Fluent in English (verbal and written)
Good communication skills
Good problem solving skills
Fluent in various computer systems (business control, group CAE, personal computer solutions)
