Chassis Systems and Control is part of the Hardware unit within Product and Quality at Volvo Car Group. We are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Car Group to fulfil its aggressive targets to be the leader in the areas of Vehicle Dynamics and Active Safety. At 93832 our mission is to develop wheel suspensions that enable premium level ride comfort, handling and road noise isolation. Kinematic packaging, durability and cost/weight efficiency are some of the challenges we face. We co-operate with a wide range of internal partners, such as vehicle dynamics, NVH, durability, manufacturing engineering and others. Our supplier base is worldwide, from local Swedish to Chinese.
We are looking for a dedicated Component responsible with chassis knowledge for one of our wheel suspension teams. You will be the overall responsible for air suspension parts and expected to provide technical expertise as well as future strategies.
We believe you also need strong leader capabilities and a passion for leading a cross-functional team in an international environment together with global suppliers is required. You will have to build and maintain a network with expertise across the company to secure correct status in the many aspects of a car environment. You will work closely with e.g. SW team, NVH, Vehicle Dynamics, Strength & Durability centre and teams responsible for surrounding components.
Main Responsibilities:
* Technical responsible for air suspension parts i.e. airspring, reservoir, compressor etc
* Support team members in design reviews and technical question concerning dampers in running programs
* Secure mutual agreement with other systems and functions needed to provide total function
* Handle supplier contacts and be active in sourcing activities from an engineering perspective
* Lead the strategy work for air suspension in future programmes
* Contribute in drawing up strategies to ensure Volvo's position as a leader in the fields of Vehicle Dynamics and Active Safety
* Support delivery within agreed time/cost/technic frames throughout all development phases of a car project
Required Qualifications:
* MSc or BSc in Mechatronics, Mechanical engineering or similar
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
* Team player capabilities, ability to act with confidence and respect in a relation with global suppliers
* Experience from design or testing within Volvo Cars is an advantage
* Experience from chassis and wheel suspension systems and specifically tuning parts is an advantage
* Driver's license B or equivalent
