What do we offer?
At the group Air Induction System we work in an exciting area of technology, we contribute to the performance and fuel economy of our vehicles. We are now looking for a Design Engineer, if you are innovative have a passion for cars; this is the place for you to prosper. The group Air induction System consists of around 16 team members responsible for the development of the complete Air Induction System in all Volvo vehicles.
The main purpose of the Air Induction System is to clean and transport air to the engine combustion chamber. Important attributes that have to be considered, when designing the system, is to reduce noise, inhibit snow and water intrusion and have as low pressure drop as possible within the given design area. The components in the system are manufactured in plastic (both injection and blow moulded), rubber and aluminium. Since a couple of years we mainly develop the system in-house, Build to Print, which means that we do all the design and drawings and the supplier manufactures the parts.
What you'll do
As our Design Engineer you design for our "Build to print", you handle all the design and production of technical documents and ensure manufacturing friendly design work in Catia V5, surfaces and solids. You will be responsible for some components of the air intake system, working in one of our teams with 4-5 other designers. The team will also have CAE support for flow calculations.
Your tasks will be project oriented. The work is very cross-functional, with many contacts both within and outside Volvo, in many cases in an international environment. Time is valuable.
Do you fit the profile?
You are a dedicated designer with the ability to see opportunities! We see that you have at least a B.Sc. grade within mechanics or mechatronics, or a similar education. You are fluent in English and have a very good knowledge in Catia V5. If you know FEA calculations/simulations it is a benefit.
You like to keep a structured work schedule and always manage your tasks well. You have a positive attitude and contribute to the team effort is of essence for you. Meritorious is if you possesses technical knowledge regarding the material plastic/metal and are familiar with different manufacturing methods used producing components in those materials.
