Wallenius Water has in collaboration with Alfa Laval developed a chemical free system, PureBallast, to treat ballast water on board vessels in order to prevent micro organisms to establish in a new marine environment. PureBallast is the first and only chemical-free ballast water treatment system in the world to have received approval by UN’s maritime organization, IMO.
We are now looking for a
DESIGN ENGINEER
for our Ballast Water Treatment application PureBallast
Responsibilities
As a Design Engineer you will be responsible for system design related issues for our Ballast Water Treatment application; PureBallast. The work relates to the complete system as well as relevant components or sub components and includes contacts to suppliers, production, purchasing as well as sales and service staff on a regular basis. You will be part of our Product Management group with the objective of improving our offering to our customers.
The main work tasks:
• Mechanical design of PureBallast components and subcomponents,
• Act as Technical Project Manager in product quality and development project,
• Product support for the mechanical design of PureBallast,
• System testing and design reviews,
• Technical documentation and administration in the PDM system.
Qualifications
You are a mechanical engineer and have at least five years experience in the field of system design /mechanical design of industrial systems or products. It is preferred that you have experience of marine products and industrial processes.
You will be employed by Wallenius Water, but this position is entirely dedicated for a company called AlfaWall. This company is owned by Wallenius Water and Alfa Laval in a joint venture and is based in Alfa Laval’s facilities in Tumba, Stockholm. The business environment is highly international so you have high skills in English both in speech and in writing. As a person you have an outgoing personality with high skills in communication and the ability to work on your own initiative. You will join a team of skilled and highly motivated colleagues and work in a challenging, fast moving and developing business. The position is based in Tumba, Sweden, but travelling is required, 25 days / year.
