In an environment of change, with exiting new technologies and rapidly changing customer requirements, Product Design is looking for a dynamic and insightful Design Director Volvo Trucks. The Design Director is a key role in our capability to innovate and prioritize design solutions for the future competitiveness of Volvo Trucks products and services.
The Design Director is heading a team of diverse roles and professions in the Gothenburg and Greensboro design studios. The responsibility is to support the business with aesthetic and strategic leadership, to support the product development with professional and accurate design deliveries, and to support the brand with outstanding design quality and user friendly solutions - physical and digital. The responsibility stretches across numerous digital and physical customer touch points.
The Design Director Volvo Trucks is a member of the global Volvo Group Product Design management team, with the directors of brands and business areas, global and local management around the world. The Director is expected to take an active part in the global projects and strategies, in close collaboration with the other brands and business areas, and support the business priorities of the Volvo Group.
This requires a person with a passion for Design Thinking and a great capability to involve others - to engage, motivate and direct with clear vision and purpose. We offer an exciting, truly global context with challenging tasks, where you can make a difference.
Requirements
Master or Bachelor degree from relevant field of design, e.g. industrial design, product design, interaction design, service design, graphic design
Minimum 8 years of work experience from working with participatory industrial design and/or digital user experience design process
Leadership experience
Automotive, machinery or business to business industry experience
Service design experience, and experience from multi brand context, are merits
Fluent in English
Profile
Aesthetic skills, proven in portfolio
Creative, motivating and visionary leadership
High interest in design and technology trends
Communication skills
In this position you will report to the Vice President of Product Design, and be placed in Gothenburg (Göteborg), Sweden.
