A bachelor's or master's degree in Design
7 to 10 years of professional experience in a design or strategy consultancy
5+ years of project leadership experience
Proven history of managing and directing interdisciplinary teams, plus if on complex multi-location programs
Deep understanding of product, service, customer experience design and processes, brand strategy and digital development
Excel at coordinating and developing deliverables and teams whilst effectively managing internal and external performance expectations
Fluent in English with excellent written and oral communication; additional languages spoken considered a plus
Strong interpersonal, relationship-building and negotiation skills
Willingness to travel regularly to clients' sites

You'll join our Stockholm studio as part of McKinsey Design. The award winning studio in Stockholm is our European largest design hub, and has previously won the coveted Red-Dot Team of the Year award.

What you'll do:
As Design Director, you'll be the visionary product owner that interfaces with clients, designers, and development teams. You'll bring a depth of experience and practical expertise in digital product design and user experience to guide creative and strategic direction on new products in both the digital space. In this leadership role, you'll set methodologies and align client needs with teams curated around envisioned solutions, as well as providing expertise and guidance to senior client leaders.
From beginning to completion of each project, you will support and inspire clients while also managing teams and ensuring that timelines and scope remain on target. You'll foster an energetic and supportive atmosphere that raises the bar for all individuals and stakeholder under your direction and be instrumental in furthering business development. Key areas of responsibility for your role will be to manage projects while heading them in accordance with relevant internal standard operating procedures. You do not shy away from working hands on whenever needed.
You will lead, manage, and mentor teams while strategically partnering with clients and support McKinsey Design's business development and communications teams.
