Volvo Penta is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation. Recognizing the need for more effective and immersive testing methods we have developed an in-house Virtual Driveline Rig, a state-of-the-art testing platform designed to simulate real-world conditions and assess driveline components comprehensively. However, as technology advances, so does the need for more advanced testing methods.
In light of this, Penta has embarked on a pioneering thesis project aimed at revolutionizing the way driveline testing is conducted. The project's focus lies in creating a Virtual Reality (VR) environment that seamlessly integrates with Penta's Virtual Driveline Rig. By leveraging the capabilities of VR technology, this initiative seeks to enhance the realism and depth of testing, allowing engineers, researchers, and developers to analyze driveline components under even more dynamic and challenging scenarios.

M.Sc. students. System controls, Computer science, Electrical Engineering or similar.
Description of thesis work
The thesis will develop a VR environment where a Volvo Penta powered vehicle/vessel works. The environment shall give feedback to the Virtual Driveline Test rig which simulates the engine response. This in turn shall give response in motion of the vehicle /vessel in the VR environment.
