The Arena:
The Decision Support & Analysis team provides finance business partnering support to R&D business functions. Core deliverables include to provide robust, quality month end financial information to business teams, provide challenge to forecasts to ensure these are based on sound planning assumptions & resource decisions are prioritised & optimised both across the function / Research & Development (R&D) finance and deliver adequate financial input & analysis to support individuals & teams to make effective business decisions.
The DSA roles are seen as experts in the execution and delivery of data and analysis to support business decisions. They will operate flexibly and efficiently to reduce lower value finance activities enabling excellence and new ways of working. They are global roles covering all financial activity across function regardless of core location.
Your employer will be Adecco, which means that you will be contracted as a consultant though us and represent Adecco towards AstraZeneca. The assignment starts the 12th of october and you will initially be contracted until the end of march 2016. For the right person there could be a possibility that the contract will be extended. The job is full time. We only accept applications in english.
Main tasks and responsabilities
Business Strategy & Decision Support
To provide support to key business & investment decisions, coordinating data collection from a variety of sources and formats, providing analysis in support of business options, and enabling appropriate decision making by Finance Business PartnersProviding accurate, high quality financial analysis in support of business decision making for multiple Finance Business Partners and Finance ManagersDelivering ad hoc financial analyses in support of R&D Finance Business Partners, Managers and the Performance Strategy & Reporting Team requirementsR&D Business decisions to be supported would include (based on value & risk): Strategic change programmes, investment propositions (including organizational re-shaping exercises), sourcing strategies and sourcing decisions, commercial and/or procurement endeavours
Business Performance
To be accountable for complex, manual accounting journals, to communicate monthly performance, and provide analytical and data collection support to business planning processes Producing monthly financial management information, explanation of variances to budget, and commentary for key finance and business customersReviewing and challenging more complex, business area specific , month end journals and devising appropriate, efficient processes to support those journalsWorking with Finance Business Partners, Finance Managers and Business Customers to prepare accurate forecasts to support regular and ad hoc business updates, using appropriate leading edge, modelling toolsCo-ordinating ad hoc data collection activities on behalf of Finance Business Partners and Finance Managers
Continuous Improvement, Coaching & Governance
To support continuous improvement in Finance processes and capabilities and to ensure compliance with financial governance and control frameworks as appropriate. Identifying opportunities to improve working practices and processes in the Decision Support Team,Ensuring compliance with AZ Financial Controls Framework and SOX requirements for month end processes
Coaching new Business and Junior Analysts in their provision of support to finance planning and business cases
Who are we looking for?
You should be a qualified finance professional (or equivalent) with strong analytical skills and a delivery focus. You are proficient in the use of SAP systems & exposure to general office and other finance data warehouse e.g. Business Objects. You have strong Excel skills and at least basic understanding of functional cost drivers.
It is preferable if you have experience of working in a global organization, preferably within the pharmaceuticals industry, and of the drug development life cycle and commercial aspects of the industry. We are also looking for someone who has experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and liaising with senior managers and feel comfortable of working in a customer facing role demonstrating potential finance business partnering capabilities.
Previous experience from working at AstraZeneca is highly qualifying.
