On site cooperating with another team of GIS specialists, the scope of the project at hand is to produce a nation wide mapp analysis through gis-data layers for the Saudi Arabian government. The working period is 9 month and starting September/October of this year. The location of project and your personal stay for the 9 month duration (excluding holidays) is in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Given the size of task and time pressure of its execution, high quality of work and being comfortable with the responsibilities outlined below is of essence.
The candidate shall identify, locate, document (metadata), geo-reference, collect/compile (if necessary), and occasionally create synthesized data that will contribute to LULC project. The consultant will format and either load the data and metadata into an existing geodatabase or create links to data that are provided by other geodata services. This geodatabase be accessible via specific web based Geo-portal.
• Build, maintain, and update a geospatial database for the project
• Follow the project geospatial database (GDB) standard
• Establish a connection between the project database and central geospatial database to ensure data transfer capacity
• Write the metadata documentation for all features in the GDB (create metadata using ISO standards)
• Compile, format, and convert the data into a common geographic reference system
• Create links to the project specific web based Geo-portal and ensure data compatibility with the project geodatabase
• Coordinate with the team members to achieve the project goals
Minimum experience or background requirements
• Master's degree in computer science/ geomatics engineering
• Minimum of five year working experience with relational databases, geographic information systems, and map projections
• Proficiency with Esri software package
• Working knowledge of map projections, map and image formats, data integration, spatial analysis methods, and computer cartography
• Ability to work independently and capable of making sound decisions related to georeferenced data processing and analysis
• Familiarity with web mapping technologies such as Google Maps API, GeoSpatial Portal API, or ESRI MapServer API
• Familiarity with the Spatial Data Standards
• Familiarity with LINUX and DOS operating systems

In cooperation with the Saudi Arabian government, we now offer a unique position in a nation wide mapping project.
Team
Our team in Sweden consists of eleven employees from 9 different countries, with about half the team working with software and GIS, half the team working with business and management. The position offered to you is a part of our expansion team in Saudi Arabia. Consisting of five employees, the team comprises of GIS specialists dealing with various tasks such as data analysis, cartography and IT. The team of diverse specialties and backgrounds, fosters a culture of openness and transparency, as well as compassion for all co-workers.
