The School of Medical Sciences is seeking a database manager/statistician/epidemiologist.

Background
Epidemiological research at the School of Medical Sciences involves using large cohort and record linkage studies. This material is used across research groups in Örebro, so we are seeking someone who can undertake the process of data preparation and extraction to support a variety of projects.

Duties and responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include discussing data needs with researchers and then extracting and preparing the appropriate material from data held by the research groups. Some data analysis will also be involved, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate further in some of the research projects.

Qualifications
Candidates should have graduated in a discipline with training in quantitative methods. Key aspects of the job include data handling, and simpler forms of statistical analysis. Knowledge of research in the areas of health and disease is desirable. Experience of data handling and using statistical software, such as SPSS, Stata or SAS, is essential. Research or research support experience is desirable, but more recently qualified applicants may be considered if they can demonstrate competence.

Close attention will be paid to your personal qualities, your ability to perform duties autonomously, your interpersonal skills and ability to cooperate, as well as your ability to relate to people in a way that inspires trust and confidence.

We expect you to be flexible and open to change with the ability to assume a quality-conscious and responsible approach towards your duties.

Information
The position is a full-time and fixed-term for two years.

Positions announced at Örebro University are, where appropriate, subject to a trial period. The salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.
