This position
The role of Data Scientist requires you to use good communication skills and high individual contribution skills. A key requirement for the position is for you to have the ability to have creative thinking around problems within the transfer learning and NLP space. You will have the ability to be self-sufficient and active with new technology, and be able to see how to apply new methods to existing ML problems.
A common project would be for you to be given a set problem, a suggested starting direction and you would then be expected to produce and prove via experiments new and improved methods or processes to meet the required goals. The role provides large amounts of freedom for you to explore and learn, provided this is relevant to the overall direction of the projects.
This position is an Individual Contributor reporting to the Distinguished Engineer for ML/AI.
Responsibilities
For each project, you and your team would look to discuss the overall requirement and issue, produce a presentation on the initial direction and goals.
Post this, it would be for you to produce bi-weekly updates on progress
Once a topic has been proven, or a new method has been found to be successful, you & your team would look to produce a plan for handing over the item to core development for inclusion within the main production pipeline. Thus, this role is more focused on the research and minimal viable solution development, i.e. not production code, just code enough to prove conclusively the outcome
Basic Qualifications
Experience within the field of mathematics and applied machine learning within the NLP / linguistics space
Bachelors degree/Masters degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or similar technical degree with experience in a similar position
A passion for learning and mathematics
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Pytorch, Tensorflow and one of the family of BERT transformer methods would be advantageous
Experience in an autonomous environment
Academic or professional experience with Deep Learning
