You will enjoy working with one of the richest data sets in the healthcare space, cutting edge technology, and the ability to see your insights turned into real products from day one.
You will be the first Data Scientist at the company: you will be setting the analysis and machine learning roadmap for NuvoAir and work closely with engineering to build the infrastructure needed to produce scalable and reproducible analysis to deliver value to our customers and patients.
Hence, an ability to deeply understand the needs of our patients and our business and the confidence to make the right technical tradeoffs in the face of uncertainty are of the essence. We are not only looking for statistical and programming proficiency, but also for an entrepreneurially-minded contributor and leader who cares deeply about our mission. The most important thing will be asking the right questions.
Design and develop scalable statistical models and machine learning algorithms to deliver value to our partners and users (some examples: how can we use our spirometry data to teach users to perform the spirometry maneuver correctly? How can we aggregate this data to give a partner hospital a summary view of the lung health for their population?).
Design and develop health-related models to analyze relationships between prevention or treatment techniques and patient outcomes.
Participate in all aspects of the project lifecycle from requirements gathering, data acquisition and preparation, hypothesis generation, ideation, coding, testing and deployment of our data science services.
Collaborate with a diverse team (product managers, software engineers, UX) to implement and deploy data products in scalable platforms.
Iterate to push the boundaries on what problems can be solved through data science in healthcare.
What we are looking for:
You are able to access, munge, visualize, and model datasets with minimal engineering support, and communicate your results verbally and in writing.
You can aggressively prioritize and mercilessly edit your own work.
You care about producing reproducible work and have picked up tools to this end.
You have strong opinions, weakly held, on subjects such as experimental design, data visualization and behavioral science.
You have an understanding of, and experience dealing with, the tradeoff between technical complexity and the incremental impact over parsimonious approaches.
You have built something first hand that you're proud of.
You are currently learning something outside of your immediate line of work.
Programming competency in SQL and in a Turing complete language suited to data analysis (such as R, Python, or Julia)
You nurture a deep passion for how technology can improve healthcare outcomes.
