Data Scientist

Innovation Lab is looking for a data scientist with an urge to apply your scientific knowledge and business skills to analyze large volumes of data, modeling challenges, and develop algorithms to serve Volvo Group and its customer needs. As a data scientist you will be part of a growing team of both junior and senior data analysts/scientists.
Main Responsibilities:
• Apply your scientific knowledge and engineering skills to analyze large volumes of complex data, model challenging problems, and develop algorithms to serve Volvo Groups needs.
• Work and experiment with state-of-the-art data processing and machine learning technologies.
• Work in collaboration with other scientists and engineers across Analytics to design and build creative solutions to challenging problems.
• Work on projects that cut across Volvo Group organizations, including areas such as product development, marketing, and telematics.

General Profile:
• You have earned an advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, psychology, or related area
• You have 4-5 years' experience working with advanced analytics
• Experience implementing Regression, Bayesian, Decision Trees, Random Forests, SVM, Clustering, Instance based methods, Association Rules, and
Dimensionality Reduction
• You are a creative problem-solver who is passionate about digging into complex problems and devising new approaches to reach results.
• You have the technical competence to perform more advanced analytics:
• Coding skills (such as Python, Java, or Scala)
• Analytics tools experience (such as Pandas, R, SPSS, SQL, or Hadoop)
• Experience performing analysis with large datasets
• You are capable of tackling very loosely defined problems.
• Process knowledge - automotive industry as well as commercial vehicle operation is preferable
• You are a communicative person that values building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and have the ability to explain complex topics in simple terms.
• You are used to visualize data in an appropriate format
This position requires:
• A university degree or similar (engineering and/or economics)
• Experience from working in a global & cross functional environment
• Good customer relationship and networking capabilities
• Experiences in services development; preferable connected services (telematics)
• Experience from innovation and partner management.
• Have capacity to execute against set targets and a "can do" attitude
• Fluent in English and Swedish - both written and spoken
