We are now looking to add a talented Data Scientist to our Engineering team. As a Data Scientist at Monocl you will be key in developing and improving algorithms for our sophisticated data. What you'll be doing:
In the role as Data Scientist you will join our Engineering team where you will collaborate closely with analysts and data engineers as well as teams across Monocl to develop and improve our data. Monocl offers a unique and diverse work environment with truly ambitious colleagues that will help you reach new limits.
You will have the support of your highly talented colleagues with the responsibility to:
Work in a collaborative team of analysts and data engineers to develop smart analytical capabilities and data products.
Analysing and evaluating data, working with unstructured text and evaluating statistics.
Develop a deep understanding of the Monocl product and how the data can be improved.
Take responsibility for quality of solutions, testing and that best practices are being used.
Take responsibility of generating quality reports and analysis.
We have a solid and mature Big Data architecture hosted in AWS Cloud and we work in an open source environment, primarily with Java, Spark and Scala.
Who you are:
To be successful in the role you need to have the ability to scope and solve loosely defined problems and come up with actionable insights. You will use your experience and deep knowledge in research to understand where our bottlenecks lie and what we can improve in the data and/or with our approach. You have a sharp technical mind and feel passionate about working in a product-based business and with building data platforms. You are comfortable working independently and with smaller teams.
You have a deep understanding of statistics and experience working with real-world data.
You possess statistical competence (such as regression modelling, significance testing etc).
You are comfortable analysing large datasets with statistical rigor using tools such as Python, R or other programming languages.
You will work with loosely defined problems and need to be an ambitious person who enjoys tackling those kinds of problems.
You have the technical competence to perform advanced analytics where coding skills (such as Python or Scala), experience with analytics tools and experience performing analysis with large datasets are needed.
You are driven to deliver actionable insight quickly rather than constructing the most technically complex models.
