The department Maintenance, Investments & Metrology provide metrology expertise, lending of instrumentation, design and service of development tools for testing departments. The group Measurement Tools Strategies & Support is a key player to initiate and lead the technical development within Measurement, we propose solutions as well as bring support to define needs connected to the future technical measurement plans of R&D. Here you will get the opportunity to establish and develop relationships with test engineers within almost all system areas of the vehicle as well as building an understanding of the technology within those areas.
As Data Scientist - Complete Vehicle Data, you will develop methods and tools to support analysis of the increasing amount of data and to contribute to the increased capability to transform data to knowledge. In this role you will propose solutions, implement proof of concept demonstrators as well as bring support to define needs connected to the future plans of data science within Volvo Cars. In addition you would be involved in scale up of software solutions and best practices from a sustainability perspective. You will be working closely with a Technical expert in the group with additional participation in company wide data science network.
Main responsibilities
• Evaluate, implement and Develop data analysis algorithms, methods, frameworks and tools
• Support engineers across multiple areas with choice of data analysis methods and tools
• Prototyping proof of concept demonstrators in data science and software requirement engineering for sustainable scale up
Required skills and qualifications
• M.Sc Mathematics and Statistics, Computing Science or equivalent
• Experience with development and implementation of statistical data analysis methods
• Advanced programming skills in Python and Java programming languages
• Programming experience in distributed / cluster environments.
• Knowledge and skills in database systems
• Operating system skills in both Windows and Linux environments
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
Meritorious skills
• Knowledge and experience with machine learning methods
• Experience in big data cluster environments such as Hadoop or Spark
• Previous experience working with scientific or engineering data
• Ability to implement the data analysis solutions as a service in a web environment
• Experience in scaling of data analysis methods to large volumes of data
• Experience with NOSQL database systems
• Skills in working with unstructured data such as text, video and audio
Personal qualities
• Independent and self-driven
• Ability to communicate results to non-technical audience
• Rational thinking, analytical reasoning and problem solving skills
