The Data Science & AI (DS&AI) function collaborates across R&D to drive innovation through data
science and AI. Together we aim to:

Speed the design and delivery of new medicines for patients
The DS&AI's Data Science Skills & Partnerships team is dedicated to uplift the level of data science capabilities across R&D, focusing on learning and collaborations in Data Science, AI and related fields.
It delivers pipeline impact by developing specialist skills and expertise, driving academic and cross industry partnerships, and facilitating engagement through Data Science Communities for knowledge sharing, ideation and peer-to-peer learning.
The Data Science Learning Director will be an integral part of the Data Science Skills & Partnerships team, ensuring the long-term success of data science at AstraZeneca.
The role holder will be responsible for managing Data Science Academy, R&D flagship resource for education in data science and AI; they will work across R&D, and capability functions, to deliver the optimal educational programme for R&D scientists, data science practitioners and leaders, within an enterprise framework.
This role is a key change influencer, driving the organizational change required to enable successful and sustained adoption of data science and AI.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Manage Data Science Academy's educational portfolio, which includes eLearning resources, instructor led courses, apprenticeships and mentoring opportunities
*
Ensure its portfolio evolves with the data science learning needs of R&D, remains up to date, and provides content on cutting edge technologies and methodologies
*
Collaborate closely with a wide network of R&D stakeholders to develop bespoke learning solutions that address the learning needs of all roles within R&D, including scientists, data scientists and leaders
*
Ensure awareness of Data Science Academy's offerings across R&D, which translates into energy, excitement, high participation and completion rates
*
Bring data science learning to R&D scientists and senior leaders, to inspire and gain commitment for the data-first agenda and encourage strong partnership with DS&AI
*
Grow and manage a network of internal trainers to realize the objectives of Data Science Academy and increase its sustainability
*
Identify, engage and manage external vendors for the development and delivery of learning resources, managing associated budget
*
Collect metrics to measure and monitor Data Science Academy's quality and impact, reporting to a variety of stakeholders on successes, risks and mitigations
*
Develop and maintain strong connections with other L&D professionals and networks across AZ
Essential Requirements
*
BSc in a Life Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or equivalent experience
*
Strong experience with designing, implementing and managing large-scale educational programmes in bioinformatics or data science domains
*
Experience of multiple modes of learning and awareness of MOOCs and existing data science educational offerings
*
Ability to influence stakeholders from a range of disciplines and seniority
*
Experience of working in a complex global organization
*
Experience of influencing and controlling budgets
*
Excellent communication and facilitation skills
