At Powertrain Strategic Development we lead technology strategy and contribute to business strategy for new Powertrain solutions. We are the center of development and expertize of Hydrogen solutions and acting as the Powertrain Product owner of Hydrogen products within the Volvo Group. We also explore new Powertrain technologies and build strategic knowledge with research centers, universities, suppliers and other Volvo organizations globally. We constantly follow the latest technology trends within the automotive industry and share the findings within the department.
In the Energy Management team we tackle future challenges such as sustainable transports, demands on low energy consumption and digital services by leveraging on our expertise to design digital services and embedded software for new powertrain products. We work agile and know that it is the way to go.
We further collaborate with external research partners on solutions aiming for medium and long term products.
Our key focus areas are:
Development, implementation and evaluation of embedded control software for new powertrain systems, such as fuel cells, battery electric propulsion, etc.
Development, implementation and evaluation of digital services for conventional as well as electrified drivelines
Exploitation of top-notch Academic Control Research for Customer Success
Job description
As a Data Science Architect you will be welcomed to a group of about 10 members working together to define and mature new control system concepts including algorithms, software, system simulation and data analytics. We are using agile methods and you will be part of a Scrum team that develop, implement, integrate and test data services for powertrain products.
We value working prototypes and you will support the team mainly through analysis of big amounts of data as well as developing digital services related to our vehicles.
Who are you? Are we a perfect match?
We are looking for a M.Sc. or PhD in Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent with some years of working experience of data driven development and analytics. You possess deep knowledge about analyzing big amounts of data, handling data that is lacking in quality, as well as viewing, summarizing and presenting results.
You have the ability to design architecture for data to be used for digital services like route planning, and lead the work within the team and through collaboration networks.
If you are comfortable with programming, preferably in Python, Spark, SQL, Hadoop, Azure or Git, this is a plus as well as experience of working with relational databases and data privacy.
Working together is important to us and we would like you to have a collaborative and business mindset and very good communication skills in English.
