If you think Data Privacy is a challenging area that facilitates the lawful use of personal data to boost an organization's innovation and success, let's meet and discuss this position!

Connectivity, automation, and electrification have led the way for the automotive industry to create sustainable transport solutions. As one of the newest business areas within the Volvo Group, Volvo Autonomous Solutions (V.A.S.) transforms the movement of goods with lower environmental footprint, safer workplaces, more productivity, and greater energy efficiency.

We believe in automation just as much as we believe in data being the new gold and the key to success. Gathering an enormous amount of data and turning it into insights through artificial intelligence and advanced analytics have enabled new ways of creating value for our customers but also internally within the company. When we rely more and more on data in our business, our responsibility becomes broader and the legal obligations we must fulfil are obvious. Data Privacy has become an important part of this landscape for V.A.S.

Come join our team!

We are now looking for a Data Privacy Specialist to join the Privacy Office and be part of establishing a pragmatic approach in demonstrating compliance and showing respect to human rights. The V.A.S. Privacy Office is the organization's representative in the Volvo Group Privacy network together with all other Volvo subsidiaries. Our team holds the global responsibility to implement Directives, Guidelines, Processes, and Instructions appointed by the Group. In V.A.S., we manage privacy risks and monitor privacy compliance through the help of internationally recognized frameworks and digital tools.

With the strong commitment of the V.A.S. leadership team, we believe that additional resources will help us move faster to reach a much higher level of maturity in the Data Privacy journey onwards. In this journey, we want to gather team members who are professional in their work, passionate about learning, and show themselves as people persons.

How you will make an impact

As our new Data Privacy Specialist, you will cover varying aspects of the Privacy Operational Life Cycle. This means that you will get to play an active role in the team to draft, together, from the high-level privacy strategy and roadmap to each operational activity and be part of conducting privacy risk analysis and risk mitigation. In addition, your task is to monitor V.A.S. privacy compliance maturity through the help of tools, frameworks, and Group-wide resources and personal data structure and compliance assessments, with a strong focus on data quality.

To be successful in this role, we believe you have good networking skills, as a big part of the role is to be one of the V.A.S representatives in all networks, forums, and initiatives related to Data Privacy across the Group. Your task is also to establish and expand the privacy culture in V.A.S. through managing the training and awareness program and internal communication, so having some project management experience would be beneficial. In addition, you will ensure V.A.S. is informed about any changes or updates regarding data protection obligations, regulation gaps, and best practices.

Other key tasks are:
Carrying out internal reviews and audits according to mandate.
Supporting in managing data privacy incidents, breaches, and Data Subject Rights requests.
Initiating and driving Data Privacy topics at a Group level when needed.

Who are you?

Since we don't know you yet, we are not exactly sure about who you are or what you know. But if we guess, we believe that you have a higher education in relevant areas and an understanding of IT assets and data flow in a complex global organization. We hope you have knowledge of the GDPR/Data Privacy and other regulations affecting data protection, especially how they interplay in practice, as this is the core of the role. Further, to be successful in this role, we hope you have knowledge of information security principles and practices, risk analysis and risk management.

We hope you have good interpersonal skills, a structured and organized way of working and are a good communicator who can engage various types of audiences during trainings and knowledge sharing on Data Privacy topics. As our stakeholders are all the functions and people handling personal data, we believe you hold the collaborative attitude and service mindset in high regard. Lastly, you are fluent in English, both written and spoken.

We are also curious to see if any of you might have experience in compliance tools and compliance guidance resources, or have certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, and OneTrust, since this would be an advantage. However, we truly believe that competence gaps can be compensated by an open mindset and willingness to quickly learn from others.

Our team is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and physical contact with colleagues is particularly appreciated.

Do you think we can be a good match?

We can promise you great colleagues and some truly exciting opportunities for both professional and personal growth, so if this sounds exciting then don't hesitate to submit your application! Note that all applications will be reviewed from August 15th due to the Swedish summer vacation period.
