We are looking for a data privacy expert who wants to join a dynamic organization. You will join an agile team of in-house lawyers who focus on creative and proactive legal guidance.

Let us describe the challenge we offer

We have an exciting opportunity at Polestar for a data privacy expert who can work within a fast-paced and dynamic organization. You will play an important role in the Polestar team supporting the company in its growth and expansion.

This position is located at our HQ, in Gothenburg. We understand that work-life balance isn't easy, and of course, welcome our employees to work flexible hours and from home a couple of days per week if needed. We believe in empowerment.

What you'll do

You will join a small, dynamic, team of in-house lawyers who focus on creative and proactive legal guidance in building a new car brand. We are expanding the team with regard to data privacy and data protection and are searching for one to two new colleagues. Together with the Head of Compliance & Ethics, who acts as Polestar's group DPO, and another Data Privacy Counsel, you will be responsible for implementing data privacy standards and requirements at Polestar.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Act as subject-matter expert on privacy matters and provide advice to all business functions and manage matters of different complexity and risk.
• Manage guidelines, processes, privacy notices, and other internal and external privacy information.
• Implement and improve data breach and data-subject right request processes.
• Set up and manage records of processing activities.
• Draft and review data-protection agreements.
• Perform privacy risk assessments, support on data protection impact assessments and liaise with external legal advisors.
• Plan and perform training and communication activities.

You will handle matters independently and with full responsibility. Polestar has a global footprint and you will be interacting and collaborating with a diverse and international team of colleagues in all areas of the business. This is one of the most exciting privacy jobs of today

Who you are

You have relevant experience working in the area of privacy and data protection, preferably in the technology industry. You have a qualified law degree or other relevant academic background (e.g. computer science, engineering). You have strong knowledge of EU and global privacy laws - in particular the GDPR.

Project management skills, experience from automotive is an advantage, experience and knowledge of technical aspects of data protection and security and in understanding complex technologies, and knowledge in other privacy laws (e.g. UK GDPR, CCPA, PIPA, PIPL), are beneficial.

You are passionate on protecting data protection rights. You are a great team player with a problem-solving and business-oriented mind-set. You are able to translate legal advice into useful business actions, and to promote data privacy and data protection within the organisation. As part of an international business you are expected to be fluent in English in both written and oral communication.

You are energized by working at a fast pace and by taking on all types of challenges - big and small - in a truly dynamic environment. Establishing a new car brand makes for an exciting future that requires a lot of flexibility and creative thinking while keeping a strong integrity. You do not wait for instructions; you act proactively, with focus on the right thing and getting the job done.

This role will be part of the Polestar global legal team and be located at the Polestar Headquarter in Gothenburg, Sweden.

At Polestar, you will be part of a cross-functional and international team, with English as a natural language for written and spoken communication. Since Polestar's in a scale-up phase you thrive by working in a fast-paced environment.
