Data mining software developer to support worldwide patient safety
The research department is looking for an IT developer to work on a leading international data-mining project.
To help in the on-going analysis of this massive data set, data mining methods have been developed to screen for associations which might lead to early identification of drug safety problems. These state of the art methods lead to many high-profile publications and are used routinely to identify adverse drug reactions.
Job description
• The applicant will be involved in the development of web-based tools for the analysis of large databases within the area of drug safety. The job will involve the further development of a data-mining tool that will be used for the analysis of Vigibase specifically. Additionally the applicant will work to develop tools for the data mining of other healthcare data sets.
• The post also includes data extraction and calculation of statistics needed in research.
The applicant will have the following skills:
• Extensive knowledge of SQL/MySQL and the .NET development environment using C#
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Qualification and previous experience preferred but not mandatory for the job are:
• Degree in computer science or mathematical statistics with extensive software development studies
• Experience of administrating and optimizing large databases
A great interest in the development of software for knowledge discovery in databases is strongly preferred and any experience from the following areas would be advantageous:
• Applying or implementing data mining algorithms
• Text mining
• Matlab, C/C++, Perl, PHP, Access
You need to be able to work both independently and as a part of a team. You should be able to think critically, be thorough in details, open-minded, enthusiastic, and curious. Fluency in any other languages is beneficial.
This full-time post will run initially for 6 months but prolongation might be possible. Only applicants with an EU work permit will be considered. Salary is negotiable depending on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
