At the same time, we are saving trees - reducing the paper that is printed and transported - by providing a better digital alternative to physical paper communication.
Why are we looking for a Data Engineer? We have a modern, cloud-based data platform, which you will build upon and improve with other engineers in the team. As part of the vision of the Data Platform Team at Kivra, we are developing an internal platform for analysts and engineers to improve the ease and experience of working with data across the organization.
What you'll do Build and maintain an internal development platform for data tools, services, and workflows
Standardize configurations and workflows
Automate redundant tasks
Ensure compliance (e.g. GDPR) and security across all golden paths
Adopt a "platform as a product" approach, treating analysts and engineers as our customers; aim to improve the analyst and engineering experience working with data tools and services, and remove complexity and cognitive load of our customers
Use your knowledge and expertise to work with data stakeholders to make data easily accessible and available to product and functional teams in Kivra (this data is used for, amongst others, business intelligence, analytics, reporting and billing). We are responsible for a number of data products and services which we provide to the rest of the organization (e.g. APIs and data integrations)
Build, improve and maintain a resilient and scalable data infrastructure
As a team, we have full ownership and autonomy over what and how we build our solutions - from idea and design, to implementation and operations. We are responsible for our solutions end-to-end
Who you are
You want to join a fun, diverse and friendly team. You are a team player who wants to build good relationships with your colleagues to understand their problems and challenges. You embrace "platform thinking" in your work - and strive to enable and support your colleagues, not block them. You are proactive, entrepreneurial and want to shape this role based on the opportunities you discover. You are curious, collaborative and like solving problems.
Furthermore we think that you:
Are easy-going, open and bring positive energy to your work and colleagues
Have at least 4 years of full-time software engineering experience, and an interest in data engineering and platform engineering
Have experience working with automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), version control, containerization, and CI/CD (we use Terraform, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions)
Have experience working in a cloud platform - GCP, Azure, or AWS (we use GCP)
Are comfortable with Python and SQL
Are already familiar with, or want to work in the data engineering space (and associated tooling, e.g. Airflow and dbt)
And it would be a bonus if you:
Are familiar with Google Cloud Platform and the tooling there
Have experience with data engineering and data tooling - e.g. Airflow, dbt, cloud data warehouses
