Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Connectivity at Scania is one of the key components in Scania "driving the shift" strategy. At Connected Systems, we develop and operate Scanias IoT solution. It span from in-vehicle, via Telecom to the Scania back-end platform.

Scania is one of Stockholm's largest software companies and we build our software around a product that weighs over 3,5 ton, traveling in 90 km/h and that is the blood vein of our society (the transport system).

Connectivity in general is all about Data. Data in large volumes in a flexible and usable way is a key success factor for organisations that want to survive the digital shift. Scania today have over 600.000 (and counting) vehicles and other products connected online. The department Connected Systems is looking for curious developers to help us drive the development of new connectivity solutions in our projects within electrification, autonomy and data streaming.

What you will do
You will be a part of a team that owns Scanias data streaming and master data storage solution. The solution continuously collecting data from vehicles around the globe 24/7. We provide the data to the rest of the organisation through our interfaces. The data we provide supports many different use cases such as customer tools for fleet management and workshop tools for remote troubleshooting of vehicles. You will take part in ensuring that our solutions have the right data parameters and data quality to support Scania's transformation to be truly data driven.

As data engineer at Scania you need to work together with component owners and ECU(electrical control unit) developers at R&D to secure that our services get the right data with the right quality. You will have big variation in you daily tasks. For example: Discuss with our stakeholders what kind of data they need. Explaining our current data sets and what they can be used for. Investigate data quality issues. Do big data analysis to understand the nature of our data and to understand anomalies. Talk to component owning engineers about what data they can provide from the ECUs and understand the nature of the data. Implementing cleaning rules in our data pipeline(python in AWS).

We work with a DevOps responsibility and we take pride in providing a quality service to our users.

We work as a agile team as part of a SAFe release train.

Who you are
You are an experienced professional that understand the challenges when it comes to working with data measurements at scale. You might be a developer (at least 5 years) that want to develop towards data engineering or you might be a data engineer that are comfortable in writing business critical production code.

You are curious and enjoy to have variation in your work. You have the ability to work with fuzzy assignments that require networking and an exploratory approach.

It is easy for you to learn new technologies. You have python experience and might have worked with C++, AWS Lambda, Linux, Dynamo DB, Athena and Kinesis or similar technologies. Other tools you are familiar with might be, Gitlab (runners, CI/CD), Datadog.

It is easy for you to communicate in English.
