As a Tier 1 Network provider, operating the most connected Internet backbone on the planet, we are quite passionate about what we do. If you peek under the lid, you'll find all sorts of passionate geeks within; people who get out of bed each morning because they care for fiber cables, telco housing, routers, wavelength multiplex systems, and, even, data warehouses. The one thing we have in common is our passion for the Internet and our honored customers.
The Software & Data Engineering team is supporting the entire organization, shaping and building solutions to, at the end of the day, delight our customers. Not everything we do is customer facing, but it's for sure with the customers in mind. In order to make our colleagues and customers even happier, we need to strengthen the team by adding two Data Engineers. You need at least 3-4 years of relevant experience in the field to be able to make your way into the team. More and broader experience is of course welcome, but not a hard requirement. We'll offer the right candidate to chance to work with us in a multi-skilled, cross-border team using a modern tech stack supporting a multi-national organization with demanding customers. We'll offer an open environment where you'll be able to contribute, learn, and grow.
Our data processing and warehousing technology stack is brand new, mainly based on Snowflake and AWS services like EKS, S3, SQS with Airflow and python on top. We use it to process and host data collected from a variety of sources within the company. Being a global telco in our position, we have quite a lot of interesting data which is of huge importance for our data consumers such as Data Scientists, BI developers, managers, and other business stakeholders. We work closely with domain experts to understand the data we process and how it can be used for different purposes.
The main tasks and responsibilities are:
- Create and maintain data ingestion solutions from source systems into data warehouses
- Transform and model data for business needs.
- Provide documentation for team internal needs and for data consumers throughout the company to be able to self-serve and make the best use the available data
- Continuously improve the stack and common set of tools, frameworks, and ways-of-working
- Work with business stakeholders to collect requirements and demo prototypes
- Assist business stakeholders in exploring new ways of using the available data in data-driven applications like BI tools, machine learning models etc.
We believe that you have:
- A degree in computer science or other relevant background
- High level of drive with an independent approach and high genuine affinity with problem solving
- Strong theoretical knowledge in the data warehousing area
- Experience building data warehousing solutions with Snowflake and dbt
- Experience with AWS services like S3, Lambda, and SQS for the purpose of building data lakes and data ingestion pipelines.
- Confident in using git and docker as a foundational part of managing, packaging, and deploying code
- Experience using Python and Airflow in data processing solutions
- Spent a lot of time working with different kinds of RDBMS and NoSQL datastores as well as a variety of query languages.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
The following experience would be desirable:
- High volume timeseries data processing, storage, and querying
- InfluxDB
- ELK and Grafana
- Infrastructure-as-code and more specifically Terraform
- Network operations
- Hands-on Linux
Your personal characteristics:
You have a strong will to contribute in projects and to the team output as a whole. You are eager to learn new things and at the same time open to sharing knowledge and experience with your colleagues. Furthermore, you are open to working with a mix of methodologies, nationalities, and cultures. You have the ability to work independently, but at the same time value working together as a team to achieve targets. Your approach is pragmatic and you take different factors such as complexity, scalability, re-usability, time to market into consideration when solving problems with software.
