Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join an existing team currently consisting of two Data Scientists. Your primary mission will be to work with them to solve difficult problems to allow us to better utilize our locker- and logistics capacity. Additionally, we have a great deal of data in our systems that should be surfaced to our BI tools, and it will be up to you to work with the stakeholders to enable that.
You will:
• Set the standard for our data streaming, processing, and storage systems and integrate with our existing MongoDB, Postgres and Kafka based platform.
• Work on the data collection pipeline across the entire stack, from client-side event logging to ETL. Systems you'll touch may include data warehousing using MPP databases (e.g. RedShift), workflow systems (e.g. Airflow or Luigi), streaming data processors (e.g. Kafka), and distributed data processing systems (e.g. Spark or Hadoop).
• Work closely with the rest of engineering, as well as other stakeholders from our sales, marketing, and product teams, to understand the data needs of the business and produce systems that enable better product and growth decision-making.
• Help the team to migrate their existing solutions to the data processing pipeline you will set up.
• Advocate data engineering practices to key stakeholders.
• Lead complex projects and provide mentorship to colleagues.
Who are we looking for?
• 3 plus years of relevant experience
• Experience setting up data lakes and/or data warehousing
• Demonstrated ability to develop for streaming platforms (Apache Kafka, Apache Spark or equivalent; additional ones are a plus)
• Experience in operating relational databases
• Some experience with NoSQL data stores such as MongoDB is a plus
• Prior experience with Python, Golang, Node.js is a plus
