Seeking a strong Data Center Technician to support both company-specific servers as well as servers onsite at customer data centers.
Responsibilities:
Support both internal and external servers: You will manage company-specific servers alongside those at customer data centers.
Technical proficiency: You possess strong technical skills in hardware, IT, and cabling management.
Analytical problem-solving: You excel at analyzing situations and identifying solutions with meticulous attention to detail.
Self-motivated and results-oriented: You are a self-starter with a positive, humble attitude and a strong drive to achieve results.
Knowledge sharing and contribution: You actively share your knowledge, contribute to technical and non-technical documentation (e.g., KB articles, SOPs, lessons learned), and help build our knowledge library for others to benefit from.
Leadership and initiative: You can lead and drive assigned initiatives to completion, demonstrating internal and external collaboration skills.

Tasks:
Preparation, staging, and setup: You will prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns of equipment (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) following established procedures and guidelines.
Troubleshooting and diagnostics: You will perform diagnostics and troubleshooting according to standard procedures, efficiently identifying and resolving issues with minimal disruption.
Quality checks and verification: You will conduct post-execution quality checks, ensuring proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
Decommissioning hardware: You will decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures.
Incident communication: You will follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to the appropriate Variscale Management.
Safety compliance: You will actively participate in safety briefings, complete required training, and always comply with safety procedures (e.g., equipment use, lifting, electrical hazards, ladder/rolling stair use).
Teamwork and communication: You will contribute to a positive and effective team environment by sharing information, participating in meetings, asking questions, and keeping apprised of team progress.
Proactive communication: You will proactively share relevant information to optimize workflow and mitigate the impact of changes on others.
Policy and procedure adherence: You will comply with Data Center Services (DCS) business unit policies, procedures, and deadlines.
Ticket completion: You will efficiently complete assigned tickets, meeting or exceeding established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with minimal guidance.
Accountability and ownership: You will take pride in your work, demonstrate a sense of accountability for service quality, and take ownership of data center facilities.
Client focus: You will understand the client's business and maintain a strong client focus to ensure your work effectively impacts their needs.

Requirements:
Exceptional server hardware knowledge with a deep understanding of component and system failures.
Ability to assist with field issue failure analysis and server fleet health tracking to identify trends, new issues, and ensure Veritas upholds client SLAs.
Solid experience with IPMI utilization for diagnostics.
Proficiency in administering software tools like diagnostics, tests, and firmware updates.
Experience in real-time issue resolution during deployment execution.
Experience with Windows Server OS, WinPE OS administration, and Linux PXE services (a plus).
Network troubleshooting skills in Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3.
Basic Linux and Windows scripting experience (preferred).
Virtual Machine setup and environment configuration experience (preferred).
Ability to work independently and within a local or geographically dispersed team.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a data center technician.
CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience (required).
CompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience (required).
CCENT or equivalent experience (preferred).
Windows OS experience (required).
Associate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or equivalent experience (preferred).
CCNA certification (preferred).
MCP/MSCE certification (preferred).
Scripting experience (preferred) in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
Ability to safely climb ladders when necessary.
Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly when necessary.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods without compromising productivity.
Ability to use hands and adjust controls with precision, bend or twist the body, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods without compromising productivity.
