DACE Data Analysis Control Engineer

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As DACE - DATA ANALYSIS CONTROL ENGINEER within the group Start and Emission Control you will develop methods and tools for analysis of physical tests and desk top modelling. You will establish and develop relationships with function designers and calibrators mainly within the group but also with other DACE and various engineers within the Powertrain organisation and system testing laboratories. You will have a large degree of freedom to form your deliveries and to develop your own skills.

The section Engine Control is responsible for all software functionality that controls the combustion engine forming the base for the entire powertrain control system. The section is a part of Powertrain development within Volvo Car's Research and Development division.

Job profile:

• Act as advisor and competence centre for robust engineering, model based optimisation, data analysis and statistical methods for concept, industrialisation and quality issues
• Lead initiative to identify new requirements and define impact on our systems
• Develop new methods for creation of new sw functions, optimisation and verification of such
• Define, develop and document analytical methods for our needs
• Participate in implementation of new methods and educate colleagues
• Act as Task force leader in a defined problem area
• Participate in various task forces as problem solving expert
• Plan and carry out tests in engine-, chassis dynamometer or start test rig, analysing the data and optimise the data set
• Create software tools for the analysis described above

Your profile:

• MSc in Chemistry, Electronics, Physics, Mechatronic or similar education or experience
• Very good knowledge of statistical analysis of methods
• Excellent communication skills and good knowledge of English spoken and written
• Experienced in MATLAB and Simulink
• Some knowledge and interest in Software programming
• Knowledge from the automotive industry is a great advantage
• 6-Sigma experience, preferably Black Belt degree
