Control and Obesity - MOL0000001B Description The Section for
Diabetes and Obesity seeks a highly motivated PhD Researcher to work as the
Disease Area Portfolio Leader for Appetite Control and Obesity Drug Discovery
projects The Arena Within the Global Discovery Function at
AstraZeneca, the Vision of the Cardiovascular and GastroIntestinal Research Area
(RA CVGI) is to "Outperform the competition by discovering and delivering
therapeutic innovations that improve patients' lives". To facilitate the
realisation of this Vision, the RA CVGI is currently carrying out an extensive
reorganisation and the Diabetes and Obesity Disease Area is expanding.
We are now seeking a Disease Area Portfolio Leader (DAPL) to work in the
Discovery matrix organization and be responsible for all biological work on
Appetite and Obesity Projects in the Discovery portfolio, from Target
Identification up to the Lead Optimization phase. The DAPL will be part of the
Diabetes and Obesity Section's management team and will report to the Portfolio
Director for Diabetes and Obesity. The Role The Portfolio
Leader will actively initiate, establish and manage novel obesity and appetite
Discovery projects up to the Lead Optimization phase. The position requires
extensive experience of the disease area and an excellent external contact
network as well as excellent collaborative and team-working skills across
various disciplines. In addition, we emphasize that the successful candidate

Minimum experience/requirements Candidates for this position should
have a PhD degree or equivalent in the field of appetite control and obesity
research, at least five years of post-doctoral training, extensive scientific
experience and in-depth understanding of the disease area. Preferred
experience/requirements Experience from the drug discovery process is
considered an advantage as is, also, some management experience (team or
