Functional Area Description
This role fits within the R&D Function and is part of the Strategy, Portfolio and Performance (SPP) group. The role of SPP is to enable the "one R&D" organisation to shape plan and execute its pipeline delivery in line with business goals.
Role Description:
Facilitation of cross-functional global teams (iProduct Teams, Global Product Teams, Established Global Product Teams, and CI teams) in generating the cross functional integrated project plans (activities, cost, and value) and to coordinate the validation and maintenance of these plans. Responsible for the interface between the cross functional teams and the project, programme, and portfolio management system (Opal). Accountable for the development of the project plans in line with Opal quality standards (project activities are linked appropriately, plans are consistent with activity library terminology, activity durations are consistent with Speed & Quality targets, planned hours and planned expenditures are consistent with product strategy, value data is appropriately depicted and project plans are routinely updated), thus ensuring quality project data for reporting, capacity management, and portfolio management and leading to efficient management decision-making. Responsible for coaching/training the project manager community and project teams in programme and project management techniques available within the Opal tool set to facilitate the delivery of project objectives.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Accountable for generating initial project plan in partnership with project manager.
Responsible for shaping the plan to fulfil the project development strategy with guidance from the project manager
Accountable for providing expertise on key elements of the plan across the business value chain and providing ongoing overview of plan data quality.
Responsible for coaching the project manager/team in project management techniques and how Opal might support these techniques.
Minimum Requirements -Education and Experience
University degree
Project Management certification preferred but not essential
In-depth knowledge of project management as a discipline
In-depth knowledge of program and project management tools and systems,
Experience in cross-functional team working in a matrix organisation is advantageous but not essential.
Experience of the AstraZeneca programme, project and portfolio Management Tool of choice (Planisware) is advantageous but not essential.
