As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) in Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps our datacenters running. Responsibilities include coordinating with suppliers and vendors, partnering with management on operational, risk, and safety issues, mentoring junior technicians, performing hands-on maintenance, responding to onsite incidents, and using telemetry tools to monitor equipment performance.
As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) in Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps our datacenters running. Responsibilities
Serve as an operations specialist in a major CE area (electrical, mechanical, controls, generators) and handle advanced tasks independently.
Inspect and supervise critical environment equipment (controls, HVAC, mechanical systems), buildings, and grounds for unsafe or abnormal conditions; escalate issues per policy.
Use the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track equipment assets and complete maintenance work orders.
Lead onsite incident response teams for abnormal conditions and coordinate with critical facilities professionals to perform corrective repairs safely and efficiently.
Develop or follow emergency operating procedures (EOPs), methods of procedure (MOPs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Perform planned, predictive, and corrective maintenance and repairs on CE equipment (electrical, mechanical, cooling systems) and escalate when necessary.
Troubleshoot equipment, systems, and components independently within your trained discipline(s) and provide consultation to junior colleagues.
Follow and enforce all safety and security requirements-such as job hazard assessments (JHAs), environmental health and safety standards, toolbox talks, and business processes-to ensure work is performed safely, reliably, and in compliance with federal, state, local, and Microsoft standards.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and relevant experience in mission-critical services or high-availability environments (e.g., data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing) or equivalent experience.
Relevant background in a specialized area such as mechanical, electrical, or controls.
Ability to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Background Check Requirements
Must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and extensive experience in mission-critical services (e.g., high-availability manufacturing or infrastructure environments)
