The Packet Transport research unit, located in Stockholm-Kista, is recruiting a new researcher with a genuine interest in SW prototyping and Data Communication over public networks.

Publiceringsdatum2010-07-19Dina arbetsuppgifterAs a researcher at Ericsson you will initially be responsible for the Split router architecture based on OpenFlow, extended for carrier grade operation. This is to contribute in building a controller and its interface towards a distributed forwarding/data plane. The work is carried out in the frame work of EU FP7 program.
The Packet Transport unit runs research projects jointly with the the internationally sister research branches within the Research Area --- Packet Technologies, headed from San Jose, CA. The receivers of our research results are primarily stake holders from Ericsson Business and Product organizations.
Within the unit you collaborate externally with several key operators, globally. You will also be involved in running research projects with several international and Swedish universities.
Utbildning/erfarenhet
You have an MSc or PhD in computer science or data/telecom.
To succeed in the position you have excellent hands on experience of programming for instance C, C++, Erlang, Java, Perl), in Linux environment. If you have knowledge or experience on networking technologies will constitute an advantage. It is also an advantage if you have experience of network communications and protocols such as IP, TCP, MPLS, Ethernet, GMPLS, routing, network measurements and performance monitoring. Further, understanding of Network Management architectures and protocols such as SNMP, XML, TM Forum.
We also want you to have excellent skills in English, both written and spoken as well as exceptional communication and co-operation skills.

The Packet Transport research unit, located in Stockholm-Kista, does research and prototypes proof-of-concept demonstrations: routing and packet technologies (i.e. IP, MPLS and Carrier Ethernet), OAM, Control and Management tools. Our solutions generated should be protected by IPRs. More experienced people in the unit contributes to standardization, mainly to IETF and IEEE. The objectives are to facilitate cost efficient transport solutions that under-pin the current network transformation, where data goes everywhere, and to support Ericsson business solutions on, e.g. Mobile Internet and IPTV.
