We are looking for a Country Trade Compliance Officer at ABB, in Västerås. The mission of the CTCO is to support Country management ensuring that all Local Businesses conduct their activities in line with ABB Trade policies and guidelines, as well as to drive and coordinate the local implementation of ABB's Global Trade Program. The key focus in this role is the oversight & active monitoring of compliance with all applicable customs, sanctions and export control regulations and to regularly update local management and Global Trade Compliance/Trade Management on potential risk areas.

Additionally, the CTCO serves as single point of contact for local customs and export control authorities and provides local business with hands-on support in case of trade related issues, guidance in compliance improvement initiatives and the pursuit of strategic trade objectives. You will report directly to the Country Finance Manager (CFM) and functionally to the Head of Global Trade Management (HGTM). The CTCO consults the Head of Global Trade Compliance in case of questions on trade compliance and follows instructions on trade compliance, as communicated by them. CTCO will also function as key support for other countries under Lead Country Concept. The role requires some travelling to the business locations within Sweden.

Your responsibilities:
Ensuring maintenance and further development of the ABB Global Trade Program (internal trade compliance program) in the ABB Sweden organization.
Advising country and business management in handling trade compliance relating to ABB exports, cross-border shipments, customers or vendors and making sure that Trade Compliance is properly organized.
Guiding, motivating and developing Trade Compliance Officers in the local businesses, as well as ensuring the creation and maintenance of written trade compliance standards and procedures.
In relation to sanction compliance/export control, setting screening standards, implementing guidelines for the preparation and submission of export license applications, as well as overseeing, reviewing and ensuring the proper release of SAP GTS blocks.
Ensuring transaction-based compliance with regulatory customs requirements.
Cooperating closely with staff in related domains to ensure seamless connection between overall trade compliance and day-to-day operations, including master data requirements, supplier qualifications etc.
Overseeing trade related archiving requirements, ensuring that trade compliance records are appropriately kept and retrievable.
Ensuring that all imported and exported products, software and technologies are properly classified with respect to relevant national and international export control regulations and national tariff/commodity classification. Assisting in classification for special transactions, as needed. Ensure maintenance of classification in relevant systems (e.g. GTS).
Ensuring the effective and appropriate use of ABB's custom and trade compliance management systems.
Developing and implementing a strategy to monitor, manage and mitigate trade compliance related risks and opportunities, including close cooperation with customs operations staff and the preparation and use of regular local internal trade reviews in the Local Businesses.
Notifying Local Business management, Group Trade Compliance and Trade Management and in-house legal counsel of any suspected trade compliance violation.
Overseeing trade facilitation programs, managing and administrate authorizations and permits. Supporting audits of ABB Group trade compliance and relevant authorities, supervising follow-up actions.

Your background:
A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a relevant field.
In depth knowledge of export control and sanctions, as well as customs rules and regulations.
Several years of experience with business processes and a good understanding of end-to-end supply chain process, logistics and risk management.
Sufficient seniority to effectively communicate across all levels of the local business.
Capability to train and advice local business TCO's and Management on trade compliance topics and requirements to fulfil for a compliant business model and related business engagement and projects.
Business mind-set, responsiveness, ownership, self-driven, willingness to explore and learn.
Long term vision, strongly self-driven, resilience and persistence.
Team player with good communication skills, capable of communicating in English and in Swedish, both verbally and in written.
Ideally you also have technical knowledge of products, software and applied technologies in the scope of the local Businesses.
