hela Sverige Do you have previous experience from working as a Mechanical and Cost Engineer? Modis are currently looking for a Cost Engineer to the Automotive Industry in Gothenburg!
About the role
In your daily work you will be an active partner with PD Supporting with Design to Cost - giving industrial engineering support giving advice on efficient designs for manufacturability and also on material selection that fulfils the designs criteria 's. You will be an active partner in negotiations together with purchasing both in the initial sourcing and in the change management process. You will frequently visit suppliers/technical exhibitions, this in order to be aware of current production methods and materials, but also future technologies that will be used when their trucks go in productions. Your main responsibilities will be:
* Calculate part prices and tooling investments, both in new trucks projects and as a support to today 's truck business
* Perform cost target setting and cost breakdowns of new and existing parts based on drawing or physical parts
* You will start early in the advanced engineering/concept selection phase, working intimately with engineering and design
* Follow up the products thru the development phases and then actively support the targets you have set in the sourcing process
* Support the change management process, calculating impact in tooling and product cost
* Cooperate with parts such as buyers, engineers, project leaders, module managers and colleagues within the controlling and strategy department
About you
We believe that you have experience in mechanical engineering in different casting methods. We hope that you have in-depth knowledge of materials, such as steel grades, aluminum, alloys, copper etc. You should have knowledge in process/production times, assembly methods and of how production setups for different parts are manufactured.
You should as a Cost Engineer have deep knowledge in tooling and dies. This means you should understand all the steps that go into Dies/tools manufacturing, such as design, CNC, die spotting, bench work, spark eroding etc. This also applies for checking fixtures.
Since they are a global company almost all our communication is in English and it 's therefore necessary that you are fluent in writing and speaking English.
As a person you are easy to cooperate with and are willing to contribute to the team. You are also able to take your own initiatives and can work independently. It 's important that you are analytic and structured. We also believe that you are interested in both the commercial and technical aspects of their products and projects and that you are comfortable with negotiations.
