We are looking for a Cost Engineering Expert in Electronics

What will you do?
The Cost Engineering Department is now looking for a Cost Engineer for electronics to the Electrical team. The team is dedicated to fast changing exiting technology areas, covering areas as Electrical Architecture, Body Functions Active Safety, Autonomous Drive, Displays, Audio, Infotainment and Connectivity. It is highly dynamic and fast changing where we work closely with the buyers, Research & Development teams and with our suppliers and sub-suppliers. Estimating cost for electronic parts is done with both engineering and business mind-set, i.e. by analysing actual hardware/technical and commercial prerequisites to understand what requirements are driving cost. The role gives the possibility to deep-dive into new technology and the electronics in vehicles, which are in a dynamic phase where new functions are designed into future cars.
Your main responsibilities include the strive to make sure that Volvo Car Group always gets value for money when purchasing parts, by estimating right cost level (Bill of Material and production process) and supporting with negotiation arguments to the buyer. Another important task is to support engineering with cost estimates to support design decisions for future products and changes. You contribute in strategic business plans, teardowns and cost workshops with your expertise.
The position includes some international travelling to suppliers' manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost perspective.
Do you fit the profile?
You have a university degree in electronics and at least four years of relevant working experience within electronics area. Moreover, you are fluent in English, both spoken and written. Business experience of purchase/supply chain management/sales with electronics is required. Experience of cost calculations are is meritorious. Deeper knowledge of electronic value chain, displays, optical components, software or System on Chip is a bonus.

In addition, you need to be business oriented with a strong business acumen, great negotiation skills. You are curious to learn new things and keep up with technical development, being the expert within your area.
