Cost Estimating department is a strategic function within purchasing; it consists of approximately 40 experts with extensive experience and skills within all different types of production methods used by our suppliers of parts for Volvo cars. The department uses state-of-the-art calculation software for both parts and production tools.
The Cost Estimating department is now looking for a new Cost Engineer to join the Plastic team. The role as a Cost Engineer serves to provide Volvo Cars Purchasing with specialist competence regarding fact based cost analysis on purchased parts and production tooling. As a Cost Engineer you work independently and in teams. The job includes international travelling to suppliers' manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost perspective.
As Cost Engineer, you will use your extensive production and/or material knowledge to estimate cost for purchased parts and tools. With input from supplier manufacturing processes and the experience from your working life, you will challenge our suppliers to reach state of the art production process for parts and tools produced for Volvo Car Group,
Do you who have a background from manufacturing engineering, process engineering or tool making? Are you willing to take on new challenges within the cost estimating team at Volvo Car Group? Then you are the person we are looking for.
Main responsibilities
* Ensuring that Volvo Car Corporation always gets value for money when purchasing parts, by delivering cost estimates and arguments as a base for a fact based negotiation
* Estimating the cost for production of parts
* Estimating the production tooling investments for all VCC unique parts
* Supporting the team in negotiations with suppliers
Required qualifications
* Technical university degree or equal relevant working experience
* At least 5-10 years of working experience
* Proven knowledge from the manufacturing, tooling, machine or equipment industry within one or several of the following areas; Injection moulding, Blow moulding, Extrusion, Assembly, Surface treatment, Elastomer related processes (TPE, Rubber)
* Experience within seating and surface material is extra qualifying
* Experience in cost calculations
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written

* Good cooperation and teamwork skills
* Analytical ability
* Skilled in negotiations
