Who are your new colleagues?
Fluid Management is one of the design groups in the Base Engine section. We have the global responsibility for the Fluid Management system within Volvo Group Heavy duty engine range and for our electromobility drivelines. We are a team of 15 engineers working in close cooperation with our colleagues in Powertrain Engineering and Electromobility organizations to develop complete engine solutions that are in front line when it comes to fuel efficiency and emission fulfilment. We are responsible for the whole life cycle from advanced engineering to product care. Examples of components within the Fluids Management team are; coolant pumps, oil pumps, oil filter modules, oil cooler, control valves, thermostats and housings, crank case ventilation, engine heater oil and coolant pipes. We also have the responsibility to deliver a good lubrication and cooling for the complete engine and all other consumers.

What will you do?
As Cooling System Engineer you will build up a deep knowledge and an holistic view of the thermal management of our heavy duty diesel engines and electromobility drivelines. You will recommend improvements of the cooling system efficiency, such as fuel consumption reductions by limiting parasitic losses or by increasing communality between components and systems solutions. You will participate in development of new cooling systems in our current and future combustion and Electromobility drivelines. Your work will involve interfacing with a variety of groups including our Electromobility organization, our simulation teams as well as suppliers and technical partners.

Main Responsibilities
Have a deep understanding of the cooling system and interfaces to other systems
Evaluate technical solutions and recommend improvements for the cooling systems
Secure that cooling system solutions meet requirements in our development projects
Responsible for cooling system simulation by performing flow and heat transfer simulations of your own and/or by ordering simulations for the simulation team
Plan rig and engine testing of cooling system and analyse result
Be responsible for technical documentation and reporting of testing and verification

Personal qualifications and skills
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics or equivalent
Experience from fluid dynamics simulations
Experience from fluid dynamic or mechanical testing is an advantage
Experience of Volvo Group product development processes an tools is also an advantage
Ability to understand complex structures/root causes and transform them to understandable project scopes
Project management competence and general Base Engine competence is an advantage
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required
